Grow Holly, Grow
Grow Holly Grow
Looking out of my front window, I noticed something. The Holly tree that has not had any new growth on it in over 2 decades has suddenly become laden with thriving clusters of bright red berries hidden behind a full array of leaves.
I thought many times about going out there and putting the poor thing out of its misery by pulling it out, but it wasn’t a dead tree-- just a puny one. Its appearance never seemed to change; a few empty branches with sporadic growth here and there and what looked like a fungus all over it. The height of the tree never broke 5 feet tall.
In all honesty, it was a burden during the spring and summer months when having to mow around it. However, I just couldn’t get myself to dig it up.
Then one day, during my meditations and energy work, I remembered something I’d read more than 25 years before. During aura cleansing and energy work, when visualizing the release of negative energy, we should always ask that the energy be returned to mother earth in its highest, most vibrant state.
I’ve always done this, and when doing so, I always saw it entering already green lawns and landscapes. Then the image of the sad looking Holly tree sprung to mind and I visualized the negative energy that I pulled from my aura transforming into its full potential and me watering the small holly with it. I continued to do this during every meditation and when doing my group healing session on Face book.
Spring was around the corner and the lawns were turning from brown to green. I thought I noticed a slight difference in the small Holly, but I couldn’t be sure. The weeks rolled by and with the weather being a bit erratic and colder than normal, I avoided going out as much as possible. I had, myself, been recuperating from a lengthy, troublesome condition and yard work was the last thing on my mind anyway.
Even after the weather broke, I noticed the birds preparing their nests in the healthy Holly bush that was growing against the house instead of the looking at the now blooming tree I faithfully gave my transmuted energy to. But when I finally did look, I was stunned; more so because I had failed to see the difference in its appearance then in the ability of energy work to heal. After all, I myself had been the recipient of Reiki’s healing ability on many occasions.
What I was surprised to see is how much the tree was leaning towards the house-- in the direction of the love seat that I always did my meditation and healing work from. If the tree hadn’t grown in over 20 years, it was, at the very least, not growing while still in an upright position. Now, it looked to be stretching and leaning toward the house by more than 20 degrees. For me, this will always be a reminder of the connection we all have to every living thing on earth and how our actions can and do directly influence their growth.
I will continue to express my love for this living life force by transmuting the negative into the positive and feeding Holly, knowing that in turn, Holly will continue to provide for me protection from the harsh lightning storms that abound on the lowlands here in South Carolina and that it, too, will also provide to me ¹unconditional love.
